I very much appreciate how you describe not just the food. While your descriptions there are always colorful and rich, it is the non-food details that make me feel comfortable and even welcome. I feel as though I'll know the muscle-bound and friendly owner, the waiters, and even the valet who will park my car. You make it inviting and easy to go there the first time. :)

It's always a delight to read a glowing 5/5 rating for a clean and friendly restaurant. My mouth was watering as you described the light gravies and succulent meats.Thank you for the heads-up on this gem of a find.

Your quick description of this place as McDonald's-like seems apt. Just as McDonald's makes not-the-best but acceptable and predictable hamburgers and fries, Up South does it with Indian vegetarian fare. A clean and well-lit space for "dining" is the other parallel.
A vegetarian McDonald's . . . lol . . . it had to happen sometime. ;)

This is a positive review of what sounds like a nice place with good food. I like the description of the decor as well as the fare. I'm sure that both would make this San Franciscan feel at home. I'm going to be sure to add this as a stop on my next tour of India.
(Is this a chain restaurant? If so, where else might they be located? Do you know?)
